The SDI Open Water Scuba Diver certification is the foundation of your scuba diving journey. During the course, you’ll learn essential skills like buoyancy control, underwater navigation, and emergency procedures.
The duration can vary depending on your learning pace and schedule, but typically the eLearning takes 8-12 hours, the confined water/pool sessions are completed over a Saturday/Sunday (other schedules available, weekends are typical), and the final Open Water check-out dives are another 2-3 day weekend.
You must be at least 18 years old (15 with parental consent) and comfortable in the water. You’ll also need to complete a basic swim test.
Yes! Our SDI Open Water Scuba Diver course offers the flexibility to complete the academic portion online at your own pace.
You can complete your open water dives locally in Tucson or at a beautiful dive destination like San Carlos, Mexico.
